Read the manual:

Pages 18 and 95

8mm "adapter"? Why? To work in a VHS VCR? There is no adapter. There are adapters for the introduction of this possibility for VHS-C (compact VHS) tapes.

It is a misconception that all Digital8 cameras can play Video8 or Hi8 analog tapes before. That is not true, if Sony lowers the product line, which were eliminated by newer models. What makes it more confusing is the Digital8 camera can be used regularly to include analog tapes to digital video, so people assume that because the tape fits and works to read camera pre-recorded tapes on d 'other devices.

The Sony DCR-TRV280 is an example of Digital 8, you can play pre-recorded analog tapes.

Video8 from an obsolete format is you can install new equipment to play it get. It is best to find a video camera used in the pawn shop eBay or local level.
